JayCut is a remarkably full-featured video editor for the web, comparable to something like iMovie or Windows Movie Maker (as opposed to the more advanced Adobe Premiere or Apple Final Cut). You have two tracks, to which you can upload and add video clips, audio, and add text and transitions. You can also record audio straight from the webapp with your microphone, as well as video from a webcam. After you're done, you can publish your video to YouTube or export it to your computer as H.264 Flash video, H.264 MPEG-4, or an Xvid AVI. There are definitely a few quirks that threw me off at first—for example, transitions need to be placed between videos on separate tracks overlapping one another, and you can only preview your movie from the beginning instead of placing the playhead somewhere—but overall, it's pretty incredible for something that runs in your browser. If you want to save projects and come back to them later, you need to create a free account, but for one-shot video edits you just need to fire up the demo. Also note that I had some weird issues in Firefox trying to export my video—it wouldn't let me input my information—so you might want to run a quick test in your browser of choice before editing a 3-hour masterpiece. Hit the link to check it out. JayCut [via AddictiveTips]

Getting pumped up for Canada http://bucketo.ca/lifestream/items/view/1770 Shared by Bucket

Game is on Sportsnet tomorrow at 5pm!!! There is little doubt that we’re all a little tired. Between the Voyageurs’ Cup, CONCACAF Champions League, the World Cup and our local MLS or NASL season, Canadians have watched, and cared about, a lot of football this summer. It’s hard to remember sometimes that it wasn’t that long ago when we didn’t have those options.Outside of the hardcore the club game was a non-factor in Canada prior to about 2007. TFC wasn’t the only thing that changed that, but it was a major catalyst that brought us to today. With healthy fan bases in Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto now, the club game has almost completely taken over all of our attention.Club versus country was an abstract idea in Canada prior to ’07. Now, it’s a legitimate factor and, surprisingly, in many cases club is winning out in the battle for hearts. There was a time when a Canadian national team game would be a circle-it-on-the-calendar-and-count-down-the-days-to-it get-here kind of event for Canadian soccer fans. We didn’t have club teams in the same way that other countries did. We either literally didn’t have them, or we had a team that was so far removed from the mainstream that we had to look up what stadium they were playing at that day before we left the house to see them. Following club football in Canada in 2003 did not have the same sort of collective feel that it does now. So, in that vacuum the Nats became our club team. It was a club that never played at home and was in a constant relegation battle, but it was ours. Nats games mattered in ways that are hard to remember now.Friendlies weren’t just friendlies. They were desperate late season matches with three points on the line. Now, not so much. When I asked people below to see why they aren’t going to the game tomorrow (about 10,000 are expected to show up – according to the CSA) the most common answer I got was fatigue. Prioritizing sports spending was close behind. Both speak to the same issue. Many Canadians – at least in Toronto and Montreal – lack the energy to get worked up about tomorrow’s game. It’s only an exhibition. It doesn’t really matter. They’d rather go to the reverse CCL fixture with those cheating bastards from Panama.A small circle of fans, mostly living in the hinterland, judges that attitude. "How can you not care," they scream. I understand their frustration because I understand that they can’t understand what it’s like to have that weekly grind of supporting a club team in the flesh. I didn’t understand that until I started to do it.Still, we should care about tomorrow’s game. Ranked 101 in the world in the deeply flawed FIFA rankings, Canada needs to get some results. If the rumoured qualifying format is true, it’s imperative that the Canucks are in the top eight of CONCACAF prior to the draw. So, tomorrow’s game isn’t life or death (the Gold Cup is where the rankings will really swing), but it isn’t without value either. It also should be a nice little game. International friendlies aren’t like club friendlies. The players care if they win. Take that and factor in that the talent of the two teams is collectively better than anything we’ve seen at BMO this year (with the possible exception of the Bolton game) and it should provide for a spicy little affair.I hate that I have to say this, but supporting your country is worthwhile on its own merits too. There are plenty of tickets left. When you consider that a ticket will also get you into The Ex free all day and that it’s air show weekend, the price isn’t that bad either.Remember back in college when you were really bagged on Saturday afternoon, but your friends dragged you out to that crazy kegger that you still talk about today? It’s like that – yes you’re football fatigued but if you can just get to the stadium you won’t regret it.

Black is the new red http://bucketo.ca/lifestream/items/view/1771 If you are resisting going to the Canada - Peru game tomorrow because of you dissatisfaction with the pace of reform at the CSA, allow me this suggestion.Like we did in 2007, wear black. If you have a Sack the CSA t-shirt, even better. I'm not advocating for people to do that and I won't likely be in black (the CSA is moving in the right direction. It just isn't doing it fast enough for everyone's satisfaction), but I respect those that still want to voice their displeasure.Sitting at home won't do that. Most of us that are pushing for CSA reform are doing so because we want to see Canadian players better supported. It's a bit ironic then for us to remove our support.Come, cheer and enjoy yourself. Just do it in black. Use the opportunity to educate others around you if the opportunity presents itself.

World Fishing Network HD launches on Rogers http://bucketo.ca/lifestream/items/view/1769 Shared by Bucket

Seriously? How about EuroSports instead? Watching people fish on tv actually has a big enough draw for a dedicated tv channel? World Fishing Network HD, a 24/7 digital high definition specialty channel dedicated to, you guessed it, the world of fishing, will launch on Rogers cable on September 2nd.
